The Citizen Science Funding Landscape

This event will provide participants with an overview of different funding opportunities for Citizen Science projects, on a national and international scale. The event will consist of a discussion with representatives of different funding sources at local, national and international level to discuss similarities and highlight specificities between the different approaches.

By attending this event, participants will have the opportunity to explore the wide-ranging Citizen Science funding landscape and get acquainted with new opportunities for Citizen Science initiatives.

More about our great speakers:

Rosa Arias Alvarez with an academic background in Chemical Engineering and an MSc in Energy, is the creator of the OdourCollect App and the CEO and founder of Science for Change, a knowledge based social enterprise whose mission is to bring science closer to society promoting collaborative research among quadruple helix actors through participatory methodologies and co-creation. Rosa coordinates the H2020 projects D-NOSES and NEWSERA, in odour pollution, citizen science and science communication, and will be co-coordinating the COALESCE project, to build up the European Competence Centre on Science Communication. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the European Citizen Science Association (ECSA) and a technical advisor to the Spanish initiative "Science in the Parliament". She is passionate about the concept of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), citizen science and the role of women in science.

Marika Cieslinski is a project manager at the OeAD Center for Citizen Science in Austria. For many years, she has been coordinating initiatives that promote and help to embed Citizen Science in Austria, e.g. Top Citizen Science or the Citizen Science Award. She is also the co-lead of the working group "Citizen Science at/with Schools" of the Citizen Science Network Austria

Dr Gefion Thuermer is a Research Fellow at King's College London, and the technical and scientific coordinator of the IMPETUS project, a Horizon Europe project that provides resources, support and recognition for citizen science initiatives across Europe.
